Legendary ocean
explorer Robert Ballard
(he found the Titanic) takes us on a mind-bending
trip to hidden worlds underwater, where unexpected life,
resources, even new mountains have been found. He makes a case
for LIVE exploration and serious mapping.

Having made more
than 120 deep-sea expeditions, Ballard asks, "Why
are we ignoring the oceans?... If you compare the budgets: NASA
annual budget would
finance NOAA's for 1,600 years."

us there...

Nothing of this was in the textbooks when Robert
Ballard went to school. Cruising the Great Rift... "it is
actually pitch black"...

Everything was discovered when looking for something
else....
Theory: since it is absolutely pitch black, photons cannot
reach it so, no
photosynthesis can happen so no plant life and very little animal
life... or so we thought... "and we stumbled on to life forms"

Giant 10 ft tube worms, "had to preserve in vodka.. didn't have
formaldehyde."
...bacterium living in
clam beds using an alternative to
photosynthesis, named
Chemosynthesis , "none of this is in our textbooks"
Everything represents a 1/10th of 1% glimpse because
that is all we have seen... especially the southern hemisphere... and 50% of USA is beneath the sea and is unexplored...
"we have better maps of Mars." WHY!?" And what's
this?...

lost city?...

limestone...

water 'upside-down' with the pH of Drano...
life everywhere...

Enter robotics - and live transmissions of discoveries

When a
discovery is made, a live transmission is sent to the command centers at 12
universities where 90% of oceanic research is going on...

Robert Ballard jazzed about a young lady watching exploration
live from thousands of miles away... "a future engineer or
scientist"
One last question:
"Why are we not looking into moving out to the
sea?"
We have more ideas about how to colonize the moon.
